it has been a great many years since the fall of voldemort, gloriously defeated by the legendary harry potter and his companions, and peace reigns in the wizarding world. but just how long will the peace last? it's beginning with whispers behind hands, quiet mention of trouble brewing, still kept from the students at hogwarts their families. though it is confined to the walls of the ministry, there is something amiss. the only known fact is that something wicked this way comes.

fears, failing, mostly not being good enough in her own eyes having her entire life planned out for her by someone else not achieving her goals and dreams and having to live with it not having enough time to achieve her dreams losing her family or friends
boggart, amélie's boggart is one of her many secrets, she's usually pretty embarrassed about it, and definitely thankful she doesn't usually have to deal with the foul creatures. but embarrassment aside, amélie's boggart would have to be one of her teachers screaming at her about what a horrible student she is or how she's a hopeless failure. though her boggart tends to fluctuate between that and anything else she happens to fear failing at at the current time. failing a test, getting a date somewhere, anything she could possibly fail to succeed at.
amortenia, a love potion for an aloof romantic is a puzzling one indeed, amélie's top notes consist of a rich designer perfume, and a fleeting touch of fresh parchment and new bottles of ink, coming off as sharp and indifferent, but then that fades into a deeper, lasting sandalwood and amber, and the lofty glance of rose, sensual and deep, almost sexual, totally and pleasantly unexpected
erised, amélie would envision herself as the head of the ministry of magic, in possession of a plethora of prestigious awards, and possessing a published novel of her own, and perhaps a gorgeous husband, and a nice house in the countryside of England with a few acres and some horses. and maybe with two children, who she plans to raise properly with their father
dementor evoked memory, amélie's dementor evoked memory was when she was five, the night her father walked out on her mother and her. she remembers only fragments of the night, that it was raining, a suitcase and umbrella by the door, trying to get through dinner, watching from her upstairs window knowing that her father wasn't coming back, the section of her heart that was ripped out of her that night, and the crying of her mother, soft sobs through thin walls. it was the most devastating thing she has ever had to live through, and has become a taboo subject among their family.
patronus, a prominent national symbol of South Africa, the Springbok, naturally a gentle, beautiful creature, has become a symbol of political power. the springbok parallel's amelie's naturally gentle nature, but also her prominence as a symbol of authority both around the castle and of her aspiration to become the first Mistress of Magic.
waiting for the world to fall, because only then can you truely be the last one standing
hair, rich chocolate brown eyes, a dull greenish with hints of brown portrayed by, jeisa chiminazzo
distinguishing features, Amélie's facial features are very fine, her eyes very round and dead centered on her face, her overall features very symmetrical. Her lips aren't very full, and her face is laden with freckles, like someone took a blush brush and dusted them across her face. Her face is very angular, like a model's, and her physique is willowy, also like a model. She is naturally quite tan, due to her heritage.
appearance,
Amélie's has been blessed with striking features, the mix of Brazilian and Greek in her marking her as different among her pasty European peers. Unlike the ethereal beauty of the air headed IT girls, or the obvious beauty of the brunettes that ran the school, Amélie's beauty isn't pronounced. She might be striking, but she doesn't draw attention to her features, she doesn't announce it by showing up clad in practically nothing and a full face of makeup. In fact, she is prettiest without makeup, for she is of a rarer kind, the kind whose beauty is natural, and anything artificial that is added (makeup, for instance), just detracts from it.
Amélie is an average height of 5’6’’ and a half, and has a thin, willowy frame, equipped with a natural sort of grace and poise that suits her build. However, she's not the least bit delicate. Her strong personality makes her seem solid—an impressive force, even for one so slight of frame. Her body language is subtle, and has a unique grace to it that is very Amélie. Her torso is a bit on the short side, but no one really notices because her legs seem to go on for ages, one of her finer features. She has impressively small feet, though she hates when people call them “cute.” It makes shoe shopping quite hard. She has two symmetrical dimples on her lower back, but hardly anyone knows this because she hardly ever wears anything revealing enough to show her lower back to the general public.
Her hair is a rich, chesnut brown, and when in the sun, undertones of a reddish coppery color are apparent. It’s naturally thick and shiny, falling in slight waves down past the middle of her back. Her hair naturally behaves well, and she does little to it on a day to day basis. The cut is nothing special, shorter layers around the face, the rest a single length save for a few wispy layers throughout. It's parted down the middle, for the most part, though sometimes she'll part it other ways. She doesn't do much to it, she usually just leaves it down, cascading down her shoulders and back. Sometimes she straightens it, but that's the extent on any regular day. If she's going to be dressing up she'll do something with it, but she doesn't see the point in getting it all done up for school.
Amélie's eyes are an unusual color for being so dark of skin and hair--they are a muted, but very light green gray color, flecked with gold. Their unusual color did not go unnoticed by her mother, who calls them the only good thing that Amélie's father gave her. They are very pretty, simply because of how unique they are, and make her interesting to look at. Dark, thick lashes line her eyes, so dense that sometimes it looks like she is wearing eyeliner, even when she is not. Amélie's eyes are usually very gentle, warm, but maybe not so much so to say inviting. She still retains a certain guard about her, though much of her expression is found in her eyes.
Her skin is an enviable tawny color-the perfect tan, like she'd just spent two weeks on an exotic beach sunbathing. The natural glow is from the Brazilian side of her, and the Greek side of her keeps her from getting too dark, because her tan really isn't anything darker than an all over glow. It's free, for the most part, of blemishes. Although every teenager has their little imperfections, Amélie has been genetically gifted with pretty good skin. A light dusting of freckles has appeared on her shoulders, though no one would know it because she rarely shows them. Her face is a different story, dusted with prominent freckles, only making her more unique looking. Naturally tanned skin and freckles usually don't go together, but in her case, they form a perfect harmony. She likes her freckles, unlike many girls, and thinks that more people should appreciate freckles in general.
Amélie's body language is very subdued, but never cold. She's dreamy, so she isn't very aware of her movements, and therefore doesn't make many when speaking, other than the occasional gesture for emphasis on a certain point. She's aloof, in that sense, and though her body language isn't cold, sometimes it seems as if she's in her own world, a world to which the rest of the castle isn't invited. Her body language remains subtle, she doesn’t bounce around when she’s excited, and she doesn’t usually squeal at anything. She’s just more calm and collected overall.
When she isn’t in her uniform, which she wears quite sensibly, perfectly ironed, and every bit in place, her clothing is clean cut, upscale, and classy. Amélie isn’t very “trendy” nor does she really ever know what is ‘in’ or ‘out’. Not that she dresses poorly because of it. Her fashion sense is her own, and she wears whatever she happens to feel like wearing, whether it be a little punky one day, or very chic the next. However, you can certainly say that her style is never extreme, and it is very much "safe". She's never going to wear pink pants or anything. She just wears what is "cute" or passively fashionable, enough not to stick out, but not to just be another carbon copy teenager. She has a weakness for cardigans and flats, and anything really preppy, despite the fact that they already wear school uniforms most of the time.
Amélie's beauty is definitely understated, and she does nothing to play it up. She wears little make up, maybe some concealer and mascara, and occasionally powder too, but other than that doesn't do much to herself. She doesn't find herself beautiful, and secretly envies girls like Adeline Kensington and Sophia Rosellini, who are beautiful and confidant and can flaunt it. Not that Amélie sees herself as ugly, she just is so focused on admiring the beauty of others that it detracts from her own. She picks out everything she doesn't like about herself, rather than what she likes. She thinks that she is physically flawed because, unlike the Slytherin royalty, she doesn't have a dozen boys chasing after her.
But she isn't necessarily insecure because of it, more just envious and very self-critical. She has accepted, in her head, that she will never be as beautiful as the elite of Hogwarts, and it haunts her. Because, like all teenage girls, there's that need, that deep rooted desire to be beautiful and admired because of it. What she really needs is someone to wake her up from this delusion and help her to see that she is beautiful, not just inside, where she can see it, but outside too.
what a twisted web you weaved, and you have us all caught up in it, unable to escape the past you've spun for us
immediate family,
Nicholai Leandre Starvos, we should try to be the parents of our future rather than the offspring of our past.
relation, biological father age, 44ish schooling, unknown career, shipping heir, businessman heritage, greek, diluted veela portrayed by, andrew cooper relationship,
Amélie remembers only so much of her biological father, he was only in her life for five years, but in those five years she would never have known that he would be leaving them. He loved Amélie best of his children, though he'd never admit it aloud, and spoiled her rotten, so when he left their family, Amélie didn't see it coming. She never did, and it broke her completely. She hated hearing her mother cry, and that shock of him leaving, over time, turned into a sort of resentment. The charm of a father he had held over her faded away and as she grew up she realized just how flawed he was. Her brother helped to reveal a lot of things about her father she may not have wanted to know, but now knows it is necessary she does. Though there is definitely a remaining resentment she harbors for her father, Amélie has learned to move on, and is beginning to forgive him, though she knows that that it will take a long time to fully forgive him for how he tore apart their family for so many years when she was young. She doesn't ever want to forget him though, because she knows that knowing the past is essential to keep from repeating it.
Alessandra Renee Crosse, it's okay to make mistakes. mistakes are our teachers - they help us to learn.
relation, mother age, 37 schooling, hogwarts graduate, ravenclaw career, writer and editor for the Daily Prophet heritage, brazilian portrayed by, jennifer aniston relationship,
Amélie's mother is her everything, and has taken care of Amélie and her siblings their entire lives, through everything. Amélie and her mother hardly ever fight, and Alessandra has always entrusted Amélie with the care of her younger sister Briony. Though sometimes this responsibility gets on Amélie's nerves, she knows that her mother can use any help she can, having to single handedly raise three kids through most of their childhood, working endless hours while Amélie and Luke took care of the house and their little sister. Because of this Am has had a great sense of responsibility from having to grow up so young, and has seen more eye to eye with her mother than most parents and children. They operate on the same wavelength and trust each other more as equals than as child and parent. This has created some problems when Alessandra has had to be an actual parent and discipline Amélie, because Am doesn't really see her mother as much of an authority figure as she should. But when it all comes down to it, Amélie loves her mother very, very much, and has helped her carry many of her burdens. She keeps in touch with her mother constantly while at school.
Devin Carter Stonem, there came a time when the risk to remain tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.
relation, stepfather age, 42 schooling, cambridge university career, lawyer heritage, english portrayed by, sean maher relationship,
Amélie's stepfather is also a muggle, like her biological father, but he is different in ways she can't explain. He came into their lives when she was eight, by accident, her mother was doing an article on a case he was covering and the rest just sorta panned out. As far as Am's concerned, he's been great for her mother and for the family, and when they got married two years later, Amélie had learned to care for him in ways she never got to care for her real father. She loves Devin, and though she'll never fully see him as her father, he might as well be. He's become Amélie's friend and male protector, he's always been there for her, and has definitely stepped in where her real father hasn't been. He might not be her father by blood, but Amélie has learned that sometimes family isn't just defined by your genetics. Sometimes it's a whole lot more than that.
Briony Leigh Crosse, so many things seem filled with the intent to be lost that their loss is no disaster.
relation, sister age, 15 schooling, beauxbatons exchange student career, it changes daily heritage, brazilian, english portrayed by, caroline trentini relationship,
Briony and Amélie have a complicated relationship. Amélie has cared for Briony almost all her life, and because of this Amélie has become sort of a maternal figure to her, though Bri really has no idea how much her older sister has done for her. Bri is the wild child of the group, not necessarily rebellious, but definitely a free spirit. She's never really had to live with any responsibility in her life, she's always been cared for, sheltered, and coddled, so she's somewhat immature. She always expects things to be done for her--handed to her on a silver platter, because they always have. Amélie is somewhat jealous of her sister because of this--because in her eyes, Briony's life is easy. Though the sisters get along, somewhat, and do love each other, there is definitely a conflict of interests and personality between them. Bri has decided to assert her independence by going off to wizarding school in France, and Amélie thinks that it's going to be good for her, especially because she's finally going to have to take care of herself. Maybe she'll grow up a little.
Luke Advent Crosse, the truth will set you free, but first it will make you miserable.
relation, brother age, 21 schooling, hogwarts graduate, ravenclaw career, dragon field researcher heritage, brazilian, greek portrayed by, andrew cooper relationship,
Amélie and Luke are the closest of the family, they both took care of their little sister Briony and grew up depending on one another. To this day Amélie cares very much for him, and is constantly talking to him or texting him. There are very few secrets between the two, and they make sure to keep it that way. If Amélie has a bad day or Luke just needs someone to talk to, they are there for each other. Because of this they both have become somewhat distant from their mother, off in their own little world. Amélie definitely looks up to Luke for being so strong all these years, and being the male head of the house when there was none. She's learned almost everything from him, and feels she owes a lot to him because of it. Though Luke would never ever let her repay him for anything he's done. In his eyes it's all been a labor of love. On the flip side, Amélie knows that Luke can be a jerk when he wants to, and he often is towards Briony, but he's always been fair with Am, and despite their few squabbles now and then, they remain as inseparable as ever.

The townhouse originally belonged to her stepfather, and they moved in when Amelie's mother got married. She adores the new house and thinks it's cute--AND it's an upgrade from their old little flat they used to live in. Which was always a disaster. Now they live a modest lifestyle, and though the townhouse may look large, it's not really that big inside, but it's not small either. It's comfortable and classic, and the red door is super cute, at least that's what Am thinks.
detailed history,
If you asked Amelie if her life has been “hard”, she’s probably laugh. Her history might be long and very complicated, but it is hardly something that she would consider unfortunate. Perhaps unlucky circumstances arose now and then, but Amelie would never tell you that he life has been a struggle, even if, to the outside viewer, it may have been. Sure, it hasn’t been easy, but without circumstances being how they were, Amelie knows she would not have become the person she is today. She’s not sorry for what has happened, and though times get tough, she knows the importance of working through problems. Well, for the most part anyway . . . .
Amelie doesn’t know much about how her mother and biological father met, she had never thought to ask. The truth isn’t scandalous or really that intriguing as one might want to thing. Alessandra was a native born Brazilian whose family moved to England when she was very young for better work opportunities for her father. Amelie’s mother lived a fairly quiet early life with her parents and two siblings in London, but when she was eleven she got the shock of her life. A letter that revealed to her the wizarding world and entitled her to an education at a magical school called Hogwarts. Like any other normal, human, eleven year old who has just been told magic is real, she was ecstatic. Her parents, not so much. Both of her parents were muggles who naturally distrusted a letter that pronounced their daughter was magical, and it took some lengthy correspondence with the administration at Hogwarts before Ale was allowed to attend. A Ravenclaw, she graduated at eighteen with honors from the school and went on to work as an intern for the Daily Prophet by nineteen. This didn’t last long, however, as she was quickly promoted to a regular writer, because of which she got the opportunity to travel quite a bit.
When she was twenty three, while helping cover a story about lethifolds in Greece, she met Nicholai, a divinely handsome shipping heir who was staying in the same hotel. Alessandra, being rather attractive herself entranced the young man, and after a very heated one night stand they parted, Alessandra back to London and Nicholai back to his family business in Athens. But fate would intervene when six months later Alessandra was offered a job transfer to the Athens, Greece, where she could work as a long-distance correspondent between the two countries and their respective wizarding worlds. She met Nicholai one sunny day, and they clicked again, hardly able to keep themselves apart. After a whirlwind romance set on a backdrop of aqua-hued oceans and white beaches, the two married impulsively, and perhaps stupidly, each entranced and blinded by the other’s beauty—though looking back, it could be argued that it was the veela in Nicholai that caused Ale to follow his every wish, his every command. She was a woman under a spell. Though he was equally as infatuated, her clever wit and mysterious, allusive nature enough to drive any man mad. They were infatuated with one another, and it didn’t take long before infatuated developed into what they fashioned to be love.
Because they eloped there was no thought given to their respective families, and Nicholai was nearly estranged from his. It was both stupid and wonderful, but reality set in a few years down the road when Alessandra grew pregnant with their first son, a boy named Luke, who would have been next in line for the shipping company to which Nicholai was the current heir. The family got along all right on the surface, though the reality of raising a son hit both of them hard. The vacation was over. After three frustrating years Amelie came along, the last child they would have together. By the time Amelie came along, Alessandra was fumbling to keep up with her job and raise a toddler and a baby, and Nicholai’s position at his father’s business suddenly began to take up more and more of his time. It wasn’t that they couldn’t make it work—it was that they didn’t want to, but they felt obligated to. So they returned to each other every night, pretending that it was all okay. They both knew it wasn’t the children’s fault, and both parents loved their two children unconditionally. So the children never knew, were never let on to the ongoing struggles that were erupting underneath the surface. Only emotional struggles, of course. There was never any violence, never any arguments. The two of them kept up appearances, but like so many before them, nothing gold can stay.
Briony was born as a foolish attempt to patch back together their relationship, but it didn’t change anything. At this point nothing ever would. Briony was three, Amelie was five, and Luke was nine when their father left them. It was raining that night. Amelie only remembers sitting with Luke, curled up together in bed, his eyes knowing, as if he’d known all along, and her, so shocked and scared. She never saw it coming. Briony was asleep. Alessandra’s attempt to silence her sobs bled through the thin walls of the family villa.
They moved back to London before the next week, where Alessandra was put back at the offices of the Daily Prophet. They got along alright in a tiny hole of an apartment for two years, when Luke got a letter. A letter to a magical school. Alessandra was overjoyed, though it seemed as if it had been an entire lifetime since she’d been attending the school herself. Though the letter was a surprise, the idea of magic wasn’t anything new, both of their parents had been partially magical, even in their mother was muggleborn and their father only half. Amelie doesn’t remember much about life at the little apartment while Luke was gone, but she remembers never being sad. It wasn’t a sad place. She just remembers longing for her father, and the elusiveness of her mother on the topic. But her childhood was happy, full of toys and squabbling siblings—things most children have. Over the course of the next few years they moved again, to a respectable flat nearby, where Amelie began to help care for her younger sister while Luke was away at school and their mother was working. They had nannies and babysitters, but none were constant.
Amelie attended a public primary school, and when she was eleven, she too received a letter to attend Hogwarts. Before she knew it she too had been whisked away to the magical halls. Luke was a fifth year by then, something of a help in getting her situated. However the responsibilities of home were never far away, she kept in contact with Briony, who was nine, forever making sure she was okay. The academics came easy to Am, she was fantastic with all magical subject matters, and forever the example of the class in behavior as well. She was exceedingly mature for her age, and curious, very sweet, and fairly outgoing. She was good with the other kids, though admittedly a bit perpetually stressed out. It never got her down though, she enjoyed the company of other people too much, even if responsibility loomed an arm’s length away.
Just before her third year at Hogwarts, Briony was accepted to Hogwarts, but declined, instead opting for a transfer to France, to Beuxbatons. Her mother allowed it, despite Amelie and Luke’s feverish arguing. Briony was so desperate to run, so young, the world came so easy to her, that pushing her away meant they might lose her forever. She would always be a wild thing. Also, Amelie was a third year her mother remarried to a British muggle lawyer she’d met through a column she was writing. They’d been dating for over a year and truly in love, and Am was happy for her mom, even if getting use to having Devin in the picture. But he turned out to be the father they’d been missing for so long. Luke never really was partial to him, being almost eighteen, a man himself. But the two got along alright. Amelie grew to like him quite a bit, even if she never quite allowed him to be put on the pedestal on which she’d placed her father.
Amelie’s life had been , at this point, marked solely by other’s comings and goings, so much so that she felt as if she had no control over anything—her life was manipulated by others, not herself. She didn’t have an unstable family, just something she had no control over. Everyone seemed to act out or leave. The summer before she was a fourth year Luke graduated. And she was alone at Hogwarts. She had her friends, but, being fifteen, and like any fifteen year old, fairly insecure about her appearance, she reached for the only control she could have—which was over food. It was never a purposeful act of rebellion or acting out for attention. It was that need for perfection that began to plant itself in her. Her grades were perfect, her behavior was exemplary, her personal charm had teachers practically handing her extra credit, her involvement in extra curriculars was notable. But she never felt pretty. There were moments, of course, fleeting moments where she felt she was perfect, but those were few and far between. She knew it was bad for her, of course, when she’d stop eating, or when she’d throw up what she did eat, but it became bigger than her, something she didn’t want to do but did anyways. She figured it must be what people addicted to drugs feel like. It was her way of coping.
Amelie hasn’t told anyone about her struggle with her eating disorder, nor does she plan to, though her less-than-normal weight is definitely a clue, though she’s naturally thin so it borders on model-worthy normal and unhealthy. But she’s so outwardly happy it would be hard to pinpoint that as the cause of her weight, and not just stress. Am, simultaneously, took a serious interest in photography, and she has a dangerous attraction to human beauty, male or female, and capturing it on film. It fastinates her—beauty, how fleeting and wonderful it is. She’s so unaware of her own, the diluted veela not being lost on her looks, though she’d never know.
Amelie’s currently in her seventh year and after being prefect since her fith, was made Head Girl. This wasn’t really that much of a surprise, and it has helped a little with her need to control things. Though not enough. Never enough. Still, she remains outwardly happy and wise, exceedingly mature and wise, but also sweet and silly. She’s very alone is some aspects, and not so much in others. She has a lot of friends and loves every one of them for being there for her through her crazy life. She’s just ready to move out of her own, try to shake off her mess of a family, maybe move far away, or perhaps undertake the conquering of the Ministry of Magic. Amelie Crosse, Mistress of Magic has always had a pleasant ring to it.
